...I know it's a matter of personal taste...I'm Humvees and T shirts(hi viz vest) for work and lycra at weekends...so what makes you cool? 8)

Bolle shades, Endura Singletracks (that look a bit liek boardshorts), Patagonia wicking T shirt.

The mitts, Giro helmet and SPD shoes do ruin the look a bit though...
As does the hi-vis vest when it's wet/dull/rainy.

Cool is entirely subjective, some people might think I look cool in my rolled up jeans and cheap poly/cotton collared fruit of the loom t's, but I suspect most think I look like a t'wat. :D

Sponsorship to supplement the day job income, I like it! I'd have words with that future publishing though if you feel it's really necessary ;)

I would say as long as your on a bike your already looking cool, but then after some of the atrocities I've seen whilst commuting in London - high heels, flips flops and long dresses! - I don't think that's quite true!

As for me I'd have to admit I'm a bit of a poser, so unless it's bitterly cold or raining I'm normally out in my baggie cargo pant shorts over lycra cycling shorts, a sleeveless t shirt (to show off my tats, why else would I get em!) mitts, helmet and stealth SPD's!

Having said this I also felt quite good the other day when I went out with just my cycle shorts and short sleeved cycle jersey on for a ride with some mates, it's probably the most cycling specific clothing setup I've ever done :-)

As for other people I tend to find the couriers get a good look going, with the jeans and casual t-shirt, whilst making it all look effortless on their SS!

  • I'm with Dondare on this one, I am always the picture of sartorial elegance. Which is sadly wasted on Joe Public, as I am going so fast they never get the time to fully appreciate it :?

If you have to consider this question then you are unlikely to ever be cool.

Why, my dear boy, the only real choice for the discerning user of a velocipede this season is plus fours and a tweed jacket! Why, I dread to think what my chums at the club would think of me if I were to appear in your so called "shorts and a tshirt"! The very idea!

But do you go for the tweed jacket with the leather patches on the elbows, or go for the evil twin version.....leather jacket with tweed patches on the elbows

Looking cool is necessary, why?.. do chicks (or fellas) dig cyclists like they dig scars?

I can't say that's the 1st thing on my mind when I'm cycling with my cleverer half. and I think it's the same for her.

however, I'm gonna have to get a tweed jacket as I'm meant to be meeting up with the local fixie lot sometime.. styleee  :D
