Does anyone have any idea if the SCR can take 28mm tyres?

Kindly soul that I am, I have just checked the gap(s) on my SCR1 currently fitted with x23s and I reckon "yes" it would take x28s front and rear (brake and chain stay bridges). I suspect that it would be a close thing to get 'grds in as well though.

I recently fitted a 28mm Bontrager Race Lite Hardcase to my SCR's rear wheel. There's plenty of room, it is barely wider than the standard Kenda 26mm I took off.

The only drawback you might find is that the brake QR might not provide enough clearance if your blocks are close to the rim, it was a bit of a squeeze/wheel wiggle job on mine.
Aspire not to have more, but to be more.
  • I have Conti 4 Seasons 700 x 28 fitted on my SCR, loads of clearance, but a bit fiddley to get the back mudguard round them, but possible.
A much smoother ride, as only 90 psi needed, but slower on downhills than my mates, although I tell them its because they're fatter than me!
