Are Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels reliable ?
As the heading says, looking at these wheels on CRC and two people fed back that the freehub has broken and it is very expensive to replace
I have seen Racing 7s recommended on this forum so are you happy with yours :?:

Dunno - my Racing 3's have worked so far, but I doubt I'd buy another pair. It'll be the Dura-Ace wheel set for me next 8)
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0 -
I've just (2 weeks ago) bought some to replace some Askiums I broke and fancied a change. Its not really long enough to know how reliable they are but personally I prefer them to the Askiums. They aren't too heavy and roll nicely, the free hub is pretty loud but its not annoying. I think that with most factory built wheels once there broken you just have to replace rather than repair.0

just ordered a pair myself so interested in any feedback0

I've been using the older Racing 5's, not the current Evo 5's, for a couple of years.
The 7's look very similar to mine.
Mine have been fine, stayed very true, no problems at all
...but I have seen someone advertising a front wheel and rear rim on eBay because the rear hub broke...0 -
i got some r7's- the finish and build quality is very high- ive crashed them and theyve remained true
if you need a cheap replacement freehub buy a campag mirage hub and use the freehub off that-total cost about £25'dont forget lads, one evertonian is worth twenty kopites'0 -
recieved this morning...look spot on,unfortunately have to be at work so no testing..little noisy but i kinda like it!0

I've got Fulcrum 5's which make a very annoying noise on the free hub. if you can put up with that they seem like a decent wheel. I prefer the Kysriums though.0

I've had Fulcrum 7's for over 18 months now and not had to do anything to them at all. They origianlly replaced the wheels on my old Allez Sport but when I upgraded the bike I kept back the wheels to be used as winter ones. My new Synapse came with Aksiusm's and I preffered the Fulcrums so the Mavic's were sold and I have used them non stop since.
Plus I'm a heavy bugger (16 stonee) and can break bits quite easily - yet these have been bomb proof so far.
I would get them again0 -

The annoying noise is to encourage you to pedal instead of being lazy freewheeler!0 -

Thanks for all the replies, i looked at some Racing 7's in a shop today, i like the look of them but boy that freehub noise is not for me :?
I think I will go for Shimano RS 20s instead, can't decide between black and silver :?:He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0 -
I've just got a new Lemond with Bontrager Race. Very nice, and very quiet!
But the Fulcrum 7's on my Focus were absolutely great for the money. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

i agree red...the noise is good...they sound sweet0 -
I`ve had a pair of the old Fulcrum 5s (= 08 7s I believe)-- rear has gone out of true and compared to Centaur / Open Pros I also have they were sluggish, Fulcrums now relegated to winter training and wouldn`t buy again0

tryed out yesterday and today...these are spot on for the cost
......noise from hub is proper bo...love it0
