.....a bit of craic in the car coming home from a race......thinking of the perfect job for a competative cyclist (other than a pro!)
Almost agreed on a 25-30mile commute, showers, sit down office job with water on hand.
Anyone lucky enough to have this?

I have a 15-mile each-way commute, and all the water you can drink at work. But no showers, just the disabled toilet. Good secure bike shed too.0

I have this job, 28 miles each way, showers, sit-down job, plenty of water, BUT I don't commute (company car fully expensed)  :oops:Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

Yes, 25-30m round trip, lucky you!
To be really picky........work with no air conditioning, only 4/5 in office to avoid bugs and weekends off to race.0 -
My job would be perfect if I could add the 36 mile round trip commute to it.....then spend 8 on my issue bike!I can afford to talk softly!....................I carry a big stick!0

No argument, the perfect job is - professional rower"Consider the grebe..."0 -
Pro rower, nah, too much like hard work, rowing coach with a launch, now that's a cushy job. Currently I have a 30mile each way commute that I try and do twice-three times a week by bike (I only started monday) free water and coffee, free lunch, cold shower for when i arrive to keep the swelling down. But I do have a/c unfortunately.0

I have a 15mile+ commute through Cheshire countryside, showers/changing rooms and all the Buxton spring water my body can hold.... only spoilt by the fact I have to sit at a desk and work.....0

31 miles each way. Nice hot showers. Water dispenser. Sit down job with occasional need to get up. Canteen. Shifts - so enjoy quiet roads. Only downside - appears as though it is going to pi## down all summer.Nearly there, just over this hill and round the next corner...

18 mile each way commute to work, showers, tea on tap, SKY tv during breaks, secure parking, plenty of technical help. Then I get to drive 5000bhp powered vehicles in the beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk countryside. Job? Train Driver 8)Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

There seem to be a lot of postmen who are cyclists in our area (and I don't mean just on the job!). They work shifts so obviously have plenty of time during the day.
My job would be ideal with a 20 mile commute each way that I used to do regularly until child-care became an issue...but then I do work part-time.0 -
I always think I have the perfect cycling job... then the slow season always kicks in.0

.........OR......what about totally the other way, is it best to have a demanding physical job as in labourers and farmers? All round conditioning in the fresh air making you fit strong and healthy could be better than pushing a pencil about0

A park bench can support a family :P0
