Boil on the bum

Slightly embarrassing to bring this up, but I've developed this thing on my right buttock which I believe is probably a BOIL... It's like a huge red zit and I first noticed it a few weeks ago. It seemed to go away but now it has come back again, in the same place I think. It's right over the point where my sit bone contacts the saddle and is a bit painful when riding, especially for the first 10 minutes or so. Presumably it's been caused or made worse by chaffing of the skin at the main point of contact with the saddle. I'm wondering whether it needs to be lanced or something, as in the idiom...

Anyone else experienced this? I thought only medieval peasants got boils!

 Curious about whether it's a common cycling ailment I suppose... but maybe some things are best not shared... :D

It is a common problem among cyclists, I used to suffer occassionally until I started using the Assos chamois cream, no problems since then. I understand a lot of the pro's suffer I know Armstrong did.

I think Jacques Anqueteille was a slave to them

Nice to know I'm in good company - if Lance and Anqueteille both had them perhaps they should be suffered with pride!

It's mostly gone away now but I'll investigate the suggested solutions if it comes back...
