What lid?
Looking to get a new helmet as my current Giro Monza isn't giving me the ventilation I need.
Been looking at the higher end Giro lids and like both the Atmos and the Ionos but can't see much difference between the two - is the Ionos worth the extra over the Atmos? And do etiher or both of these come with the Giro helmet pod?
Have also considered the Met Stratovarius (sp?!) which looks well vented, but I'm nervous about moving away from the Giros cos I love the way they fit!
Anything else I should consider?

Both Giros are good. Ionos has more ventilation than the Atmos.
Check out the Specialized D2 too - excellent venting (though I haven't done a proper comparison with the Ionos). Substantially better venting than the Atmos for sure and it's so light you hardly notice it's there...0 -
Whatever you decide - do try them on for fit - I liked the specialized - but didnt fit my head shape.0

The Met doesn't suit everybody, fitted me OK so I bought one. It replaced a Specialized Decibel and I don't think it's as well vented as the Specialized.
Also, don't get sucked into the weight thing with the Met. I take a medium Specialized but needed a large Met. On the scales the Met is 5 grams lighter.0 -
I've recently got rid of my first helmet a Giro Enchinal (sic??) and bought an Ionos, the ventilation difference is realy noticeable. I used to turn up at work with a sweaty head, now all i have is a slight mark where the helmet sat. Very comfortable. It doesn't come with a helmet pod though. It does come with a lining for when it gets colder as the ventilation is so good during the winter it would get quite chilly!!
I went understated with a carbon black, goes with everything then..0 -
I would say, if you really want one of the two, then try them both on, as they are different shapes.
I used a Giro Atmos 2 years ago, and it gave adequate protection and was a nice light helmet which I really liked.
However, I really recommend trying the helmet on as different models from the same manufacturer can fit very differently. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -
I went to to buy a Giro Atmos and came back with a Met Inferno. Just fitted me better. I could feel the hard bits of the helmet on the top of my head with the Giro.0

i hav the bell sweepR - it does the job. tho gettin a lid (walnut shell) that fits the shape of ur head near perfectly is best. test in shop with a big mirror for posing.0

I believe that Specialized are the only brand that have SNELL certification, which is apparently a higher standard than the more common European ones.
I will be buying a Specialized lid next time round..0 -
I use a Spesh 2D. It's so comfy and light that I forget it's there.
Ventilation is fantastic. So good that I often find a wide variety of bug life inside the helmet; picked up during the ride!0 -

And you think that's a good feature??/ You have been lucky it hasn't been a bee or wasp and got stung on the head mate. My helmet, although not one of the top sellers, does have an insect net, stopping anything getting through.0 -

Can't speak for giant mancp, but I know that Uvex helmets have an insect nest.
Now, not all Specialized helmets are Snell accredited. The Spesh 2D helmet had a recall in the USA as well, although it did not have one here (that i can remember).
