did pretty well considering that was a bread and water effort...shows the sprt must be cleaner...a litt bit of that and him juts being a fast bugger when he is on form...I predict yellow for him at Superbesse. He can climb when he must

hope he does manage to get into that yellow again even just for one day, would be great for slipstream to have had riders in pink and yellow

Yep good effort from Dangermouse. He will be breathing a sigh of relief - remember Forearms van Petegem said he'd be keeping an eye on DM's performances at the TdF this year...

    Yep,Superb ride.
Can't see him getting into yellow, though I'd love to be proven wrong.I just can't see the peloton giving him any slack to get in a soft break, being so high on GC.
Looks like I might have been right on another thread,'bout Valverde peaking too soon.
Beat Evans at the DL TT,Battered by Evans at the TDF TT.
    so many cols,so little time!

Millar was the best of the guys most of us were expecting to rule this stage, so it's a great effort. I really can't see him in yellow, though. IMO, anywhere Millar can climb, Schumacher can follow. Between losing Cancellara on a climb and losing Kirchen and Schumacher on a climb, there is quite a gap.

Garmin still have a nice cushion in the team competition, though. Very good for them, up to now.

Yes, Gerolsteiner will be very defensive of the jersey IMO and wont be giving someone like Millar a real chance. I had thought someone like him would have a chance if Cancelara had taken the lead - CSC have three overall contenders and would put up less of a fight to defend the yellow jersey now. If it comes down to the peloton on the final climb of Superbesse then i think that Millar will be trailing behind Schumacher and Kirchen..

Having said that i think that Team Garmin will see this as their big chance to make an impact on the race - they have both Millar and Van de Velde placed highly so will focussing on this.

The DL TT and the TdF TT were very different beasts. Apparently the first 30 km (I think) of the DL TT was more like a mountain TT. It always pays to look into these things before drawing conclusions. However I will not dispute that Valverde was in great form at the DL. We will need to see how he goes in the Pyrenees before we can judge how well he has held his form.

You've gotta feel for Millar tho

    Have ride of life
    Beat Chinny
    Take Yellow

    Tick
    Tick
    Bu66er

Still - encouraging for Evans, intriguing result for the Luxembourgois, and you have to wonder if Valverde's done a Mayo ......
I'm not saying pedestrians in Hackney are stupid.. but a fixed bayonet would be more use than a fixed gear...

Given that Wiggins was beating Millar in the Tour time trials last year I couldn't help but think how good old Bradley would have performed today....

Well, if you look at the Albi TT last year (which was in the secnd week), the guys who finished above Wiggo were Vino, Evans, Kloeden and Kashechkin, so you'd have to say he'd have been in with a good shout of taking the stage today.

The danger is gona come from Kirchen more than Shumacher, but Vaughters and Millar have had these two stages (TT and Super Besse) in their mind's eye for weeks. After todays' stage and Gerolsteiner being on the front for 200 of the 230km, I can see Garmin setting a hard pace up the first second cat climb and launching Millar at the bottom of Super Besse. Unfortunately, the top of it is supposed to be like the Mur de Huy, and it just so happens his main competition for yellow won there this year and the man just behind him came second!!! But even to be within 12 seconds after 5 days is fantastic.

    Go DangerMouse!!!
