Hi,
just bought a new bike - stumpjumper took it out, and then noticed that when i was cleaning it - a slight noise coming from brake discs as i rotated wheel freely - should i be worried about this? - if so what would someone recommend me to do. novice rider.

kind regards,
Nick

was the noise with or without the brake applied?

and dont worry about it in 99.9% of the time.

    Hi Nick,

the noise - very sligh scraping noise was without the brakes applied.
i noticed that even just after riding the bike for the first time, just spining the back wheel - you can see it has a very very slight wobble..only after 1 ride.

dont worry about it. but if it is still there when it goes back for the 6 week service mention it.

the pads will still need to bed in.

  • Its a pretty common problem.
My disc brakes rubbed no matter how I tried to adjsut them.
One suggestion is apply brake , and then flex disc from side to side close to the caliper , this may adjust the pads/pistons so disc wont rub on them.

In my case disc was warped enough that it kept rubbing on pads.
Solution was to get new disc rotor.Been silent ever since.
You can see if the disc is badly warped by spinning the wheel.
