OK, not directly related to the Tour, but my mate who moved to Melbourne sent me this:

The fellas I was riding with on Saturday have ridden with Cadel. they were on each side of them and then one of them sprinted in front of him and then threw his arms in the air as if he had jsut won a stage. Cadel had a strop and told them both to F*ck off.

He was probably worried they would fall off and take him out too ? Cant blame him really.
  • I throw my arms up in the air winning imaginary races all the time.

Hmmm - yeah - I can see where you are going wrong in training then... ;-)

He was probably hoping to sit on their wheels for a couple of hours.

Perhaps it was a local bike ride for local people

Did Evans know the 2 people or were they just 2 random blokes that rode up to him and then outsprinted him....

....or was he angry because its never him winning a race with his arms in the air (except for the protour overall last year but who cares?)

  • So lets get this straight......your mates rode up on either side of him, one sprinted off and then Cadel told them both to F*&K off? Sounds kinda weird to me.......are you sure that's ALL that they did? If they have done something stupid then why shouldn't he be able to tell them to F&%K off without someone coming in here and making a deal out of it??? I know I'd have told them to F&%K off if they'd done something stupid and I'm sure most would do them same. THINK ABOUT IT.

Who knows what they did. They're Aussies and likely to have spun a good yarn, and my mate is full of s### too.

It's not about blaming Cadel for his actions, though I really hope he doesn't win the Tour.

It's about a good tale. Enjoy it for it's Zen-like purity. Bloke rides ahead and fakes a win, Cadel wigs out.

And what a scoop for a fan. To be told to f--k off by Cadel Evans. Way better than a signature.

Let's see if I can get this right... you know someone who knows someone who might have ridden alongside, then in front of, Cadel Evans, in acting out his little fantasy, and was told to 'fuck off' by a thoroughly professional cyclist who (most likely, though we don't know the timing of this) was dedicated to his training for the Tour de France?

Why isn't this post called "MY MATE'S FULL OF SH1T BUT HE KNOWS A MORON"

Of course, if I've misunderstood the situation apologies to everyone concerned for any attempt to tarnish their respective reputations.
