Hi chaps,

I need to change my BB on my '07 Specialized FSR XC comp. Current bracket is Shimano BB-ES25, Octalink Spline, cartridge bearing, 68 x 118mm for 50mm chainline. Given that I have only ridden around 750 miles from new, and the bracket is failing (Albeit it has been submerged on occasion) I would like to upgrade. Question is what model is a direct replacement, ie I want to fit the same crank back on.

Cheers.

I believe any octalink BB is OK provided you get the correct size.

    BB-ES51 or BB-ES71

    Thanks...

Just ordered a ES 71 from pedal on. The concern I have for the future is that there didn't seem to be many places stocking the specific size I required. Some of the big sites are even indicating that the size I need is discontinued.
So whilst I have a replacement on the way now, will I have to go to the expense of changing the cranks next time.
Seems a pretty poor situation for a bike that is only 15 months old!

    Is it a deore chainset?
If so, don't worry, next time your BB wears out you will probably find you are needing new chainrings too.
Just get something like this to replace the lot......

No I have an Xt set up, which I changed over fairly recently.
