LOOK/SPD-SL shoe with recessed cleat...?

Having just bought a couple of pairs of SPD-SL pedals on eBay for my commute bikes, I would really like to find a shoe with a recessed cleat as I have a train journey and a bit of a walk at either end to cope with as well.

Does such a thing exist ?

Thanks

Matt

    I don't think so.

    I googled some cleat covers.

They do seem to exist, but I couldn't spot anything from the UK. Ebay maybe?

Another trick is to carry a set of aquasocks or something like that in your back pockets.

Stupid question: have thought about going clipless, am I right that there are 2 types of SPD: roadie ones and off-roadie/touring? And they are not cross compatable? So the sensible (I can walk on them) ones would require off-road pedals (which you can get on fleabay for around £13 per pair)?

It's just a hill. Get over it.

SPD stands for Shimano Pedaling Dynamics.

Shimano clipless is SPD and Shimano Road is SPD SL and they are not cross compatible.

Other companies also make SPD compatible pedals.

and then you have the others.

if you want a shoe that has a "recessed" cleat then look at MTB shoes. (they are not fully recessed but not far off).

My Specialized BG mtb shoes have Crank Bros cleats which are fully recessed, only occasionally clanking on uneven ground. They're brilliant road-riding shoes. SPD cleats are almost identical so I imagine they'd work just as well. SPD-SLs are for racing.

has anyone ever considered producing strap-on cleated soles for normal shoes? There are times when i think they might be a really good idea... or even just some relatively casual looking cleated shoes!
