Is it OK to support a carbon frame by the crossbar (not a compact frame) on a Minoura 5000 stand? The clamp does not go quite small enough for the seat post. It doesn't help that the instructions are all in Japanese.
I wouldn't do anything strenuous like releasing tight pedals or BB whilst on the stand.

If you have a clamp that you can tighten, I stuck two sections of tyre cut down and glued to the clamps to make mine smaller, but never grip a carbon frame anywhere but the seatpost, and then make sure it's alloy or steel. That's what my LBS always has said, and does.
