i'm stuck between:
Halo freedom disc, £32
Mavic EX 721, £30
Sun ringle MTX 29, £25

which is best and which is best value considering the prices?

i've heard 721's aren't suited to hardtails and can snap but havn't heard much about the others.

It all depends on your riding.

I've not heard of 721's snapping on hardtails, but if you ride hard enough you can break any rim.

I went for a Halo wheelset because of:
    a. the strength of the wheels,
    b. the looks and
    c. they did a 29er set.
They are still straight and true and still white, despite abuse.

light freeride and 4X really. i need something thats strong enough for some serious jumping but i don't need the stupid strength (and weight) of full on DH rims.

yeah the halos look soooo good but they are the most expensive :?

i had to get a new front wheel knocked up in whistler in may when i purchased some new forks i got a ex721 rim i rode it in the bike park and on various black runs blue runs ect it was fine.
i rode it at llandegla rd and black run also coed-y-brenin on the mbr trail...

as well as local were it's been put through its pacecs on jumps drops ect the biggest being 3-4 foot..

the rim is fine and has stayed nice and true.. i must state though this is on my sc heckler running marzocchi 55eta

I recently built a set of wheels; hope pro 2 on ex721s. They're awesome. The 721s seem to have a cult following these days.

Saying that there's nothing wrong with either of the other two choices.
