well i dont think i need them, but i do want to get some downhill forks...
i have a Diamonback Response 08 i bought 2 months ago
with Spinner Edge 4 Forks, i do a lot of jumping i wouldnt say Extreme, but enough to break the threads on the soft/hard knob on the forks, turns out it was plastic threads, why in the world would they use plastic on something that undergoes so much pressure.
Anywho i want to not have to deal with this problem so i want to get some downhill forks that do not have cheap plastic threads that can break after only having em for 2 months, can you guys point me in the right direction as far as what i need to look for when buying some?

Sorry but you do not want DH forks.
the 08 Response seem to come with 120mm travel forks. but none seem to come with spinner forks.
the fork is more of a general XC bike so i would look at a RS Recon or Tora forks. with about the same travel."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

whats wrong with DH forks? will there be too much travel with what i am using my bike for? or what exactly is wrong with having dh forks? or are they called freestyle forks?
do the TORA forks have the cheap plastic threads that will break after a few jumps? or are they a higher quality type0 -
The DB Response is not a DH bike, not designed for this riding nor to have forks more than 120mm of travel on (2008 version). Too big a fork will rip the headtube off the bike and ruin the handling.
My Toras have metal top caps.0 -
what about the little screw that comes down when you twist to tighten? that is what broke on my forks, it is plastic, really cheap design, can the part be replaced or am i going to notice a big difference with tora shock?0

The Toras parts will not break, it is a sturdy fork for XC and All Mountain. The Uturn version does use some platic in the assembly, but the system is shared with far more costly models.0

ok, toras it is im going to have to price them now.....
and just to let you guys know how i figured out my forks were broken, after every jump i would fall face forward and roll over my bike, this happened about 6 times in a row on a jump that puts me up about 4 feet above the ground, everytime i jumped i tried tightening, but would notice nothing after every landing, then i opened and saw little shredds of plastic everywhere..... got me upset... my plastic pedals then started to break too.0 -
Well, the bike nor forks are designed for this riding! That is why it broke lol.
If you want the toughest fork for this money, look at the Marzocchi DJ. I'd consider a different bike though that has stronger bits throughout.0
