Hey guys (and gals)
Cant decide between the two bikes both similar spec and price(ish) [Both 07 models]. I know I should get test rides but due to my current situation that isnt really an option so i'd love to hear opinions from both sides or if anyone could dig out a review. Ive found a very short snippet of the EX on here but nothing lengthy and nothing at all for the stumpy. Any advice welcome
Thanks in advance

Buy the stumpy over the Trek.
The reason is that the 07 treks suspension is not the same as the 08 version and from what I understand the 07 design never really distinguished itself. The 07 stumpy is a very very good ride for the price and its suspension is well sorted as shown by many positive reviews by owners and magazines.
Both 08 versions of the bikes have new suspension but out of the 07 versions the stumpy is simply a better bike.
Hope that helpsScott Ransom 10

Agreed.
The '07 Stumpy was very well-regarded, the Trek rather less so.0 -

I was under the impression that in 07 Trek wasnt running the pivot through the rear axle?Scott Ransom 10

I found the FSR too upright due to the stem, easily I sorted I guess but it put me off. A little cramped too depending on your body shape / riding style.
What MTB put the Trek before the FSR but they are both popular.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -
Went with the trek in the end purely as a financial choice, managed to find one for 770 which is almost half the RRP. Couldn't really justify spending and extra 400-500 on the stumpy. I think the 07 had a similar suspension to the 08 which has got good review it just hasn't got the ABP as papasmurf said. Thanks for your guys advice. Shall give you a quick review once I pick it up.
