£1000 for new all round bike..

i am going away on the 17th of this month and need a new bike for then.. i am looking for mainly all mountain bike but still burly enough to take big drops and good for long rides and going uphill :? i was thinking possibly an sx trail or a commencal meta? i am not realy too fussed about it being second hand etc.
i have a max of £1000, anyone got any other ideas..
