I,m 5"9 waist 35 ,weight 13st ,short legs.Currently wearing Lusso (large) Castelli(xxl) Looking at the Assos sizing chart reccommeds a large, usually tend to fall between large to xxl :? cheers

Large for me at 5'10" with 34 waist. Assos sizing is very specific and I strongly recommend you try before you buy if possible.

A good measure is when standing up straight, the bibs should be very snug so that when bent over on the bike, the fit is perfect.

I'm similar to giant mancp, 5'11'' 32-34 inch waist and I wear a large and they fit perfectly, according to the Assos size chart you'd be a medium (medium is for height 5'5'' to 5'10''), but I would agree that there's no substitute for trying before you buy.

I'm 6', 95kg, 37" waist and bought a pair of XL which are fine. They are quite tight around the legs compared to my other (Campag) shorts, but I think that's down to the muscle compression qualities of the shorts. They are very comfortable on the bike but as someone else said, they do pull a bit if you standup straight in them.

I'm 6 ' 0 " , don't know how much I weigh , but fatter rather than thin . Up until the end of last year I was riding around in a set of Assos - something or other - ' Campionissimo ' perhaps ( a hundred quid five years ago maybe ), and they were sized ' L ' . They fitted perfectly . At the start of the year - in anticipation of this great sunny summer we're all enjoying - I bought a pair of hugely expensive F 1,13 shorts sized ' XLG ' , yet like Paulgw here the first thing that struck me was how bloody tight they were around the legs , squelching the flesh as in a tourniquet almost . Secondly the shoulder straps also wanted to bend me over double nearly - ( felt like ) .
Yes they were O.K., and seemed alright when on the bike but it was always a relief to shed'em at the end of the ride . I worked out that that is not how a set of shorts should feel so gave them away to a chum who normally takes only Med to 'L' in Assos - ( he was going to flog'em on ebay I think ) - they fitted him perfectly . They're keepers for him and his Number one shorts now .
My conclusion is that things ain't what they use to be at Assos . Although they're still masters of the purest guff in their marketing spiel , they manufacture a lot of their stuff beyond Switzerland now . I have a pair of their bib-knicks and the stitching in a couple of places is ' seconds' quality and about to unfold . I think their sizing is all to pot too . I notice that the main man in their brochure is a small guy - but perfectly toned - and wonder if there are new - small guys - in charge at the design and cloth cutting end of things now ( it used to be that a shirt marked ' Large ' made in India , say , would barely fit a 'Med' European person ). I shouldn't think that this ought to influence things but offer it as a ' maybe ' observation .
I was once involved with a manufacturer of mountain / rock climbing safety equipment and all the main guys were small to medium sized with long legs and short bodies , so , as a consequence , all their apparel ( ... a sideline ) was sized for them of course and when they got into larger sizes - me - they never got it right , it was always too small ( ...but free ! ) .
    Anyway , unsurprisingly , I'm a confirmed sceptic now of Assos .

I had a similar question so brought the L & XL from Ribble.

Ended up returning the XL; Ribble refund was very prompt and no hassle.

Worth a few quid for the return postage to get it right as the shorts are expensive but I am happy they are value for money.

    I am 77kgs, 34" & 5'11" and went L.

I bought a pair of the new S5 Uno shorts and then rode the Etape Caledonia 81 miles. At the end of it I had an oval friction burn on my lower back from where the ridiculously placed oval badge is on the outside of the shorts. My g/f took pictures and when I get round to it I'll be forwarding them to Assos with a letter of complaint.

    Anyone else had this prob?

I'm 6 feet, slim build, 30 inch waist and have a size large which fit fine
