what brake?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

not sure on the year but its the Mono with the banjo instead of straight cable out, if you get me?0
-
what brake? there are many MONO's
the mini, the M4, the Ti six!"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
it only calls itself a mono, not the mini or m6, or m4, dont know if you can tell from my pinkbike pics of the bike?0
-
well then what colour is it and how may pistons and fix your PB link."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
2 pistons and silver
link fixed0 -
so it is a MINI. mono nothing!
this one?
"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

yes that one, the rear brake not front. it takes mono pads not mono mini0
-
so is it then a one piece Mono MINI?
or is it a 2 piece MINI as it has a MINI rotor on it.
old mono minis are black and are made out of one piece.
is it like this?
"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

its a 2 piece, im going on what i got told by a mate that gave me it0

If it is 2 piece then it can't be a mono. Mono meaning one piece
Looks just like my mini to me. To clarify, the Mini was a two piston two piece design. The Mono Mini was its successor I think - a one piece, two piston design with a screw in cap to allow you to get at the pistons.
Until I messed it up (contaminated pads I think) my front mini (185mm rotor) was easily powerful enough to put me over the bars with one finger although I tend to use two on fast descents for better control.
But that is on a xc bike - that bike doesn't look very xc to me....0 -

I have a bike fitted with hope mini brakes and they really like a complete flushing through with fresh dot 5.1 brake fluid every year it makes a hell of a differenceFig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

erm, looks like the 'open' version of the C2, if that makes any sense. I think that means it's a mini, right?0

I've got a 7 year old HOPE mini front thats got the same oil in from day one and is still perfect in fact it's like a good wine it get's better with age , think it's a bit of a mypth you have to change every year. The rear is also a mini and thats been changed twice due to that stupid little pin that rounded off on me when replacing the pads and i have to strip it down every time i change pad's :roll:0

OK so we seem to be decided onthat it is a MINI now what number is it? IE: what is the disc size on the rear?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Nick, you of all people should know it's not a Mini.
A Mini is one of those things in your avatar.0 -
sorry my mistake it is a mini, its a 160mm rotor on the rear, the standard one that comes with it0
-
It sounds like contaminated or glazed pads to me.
Try changing them and cleaning the rotor with isopropyl alcohol. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.0 -
if the lever is firm and there is no power at any time then as above.
If it is ok and then goes off in use and if it is an early mini (pre Phenolic pistons and inserts) you could just be cooking it.
So options, clean and new pads. Or clean and new pads and a bigger disc with adapter...."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
