Specialized AFR Brain Fade

I have just bought an Epic today and the manual recommends 100psi for my weight (175lbs). When I pump it to 100psi the sag is around 25mm, where it should be 10mm according to the manual.
To attain the 10mm, I have to pump up the shock to near 200psi!!
Has anyone else had this problem and is it common? (Will ring the dealer tomorrow)

sounds ok.
if you need 200 then you need 200 to give the sag you require."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ok thanks.
It just seemed strange that the manual says 100psi and I actually need around 195psi. :shock:0 -
you have backed off the brain fade valve?
and you are measuring correctly? as if you are not careful you can get a false reading as you get on and off."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

yes I've opened the brain fade as the manual suggests.
Got on and off the bike 'gently' and used the rubber 'o' ring to measure the sag.
I know that the reading on the pump could be a bit off but not by 100psi.0 -
did you not get a sag-o-meter? with the new ones i thought you did.http://www.sketchymtb.co.uk/Blah.pl the new XC in Kent

nope.
It's straightforward to measure the sag though.
My concern is the pressure i have to put into the shock to get the recommended 10mm sag.0 -
and an air shock needs whatever pressure you need to give the sag you want.
and the numbers given are just a guide as a lot depends on where you are sitting and if you are over the bars of sitting straight up.
If YOU need 195 then YOU need 195."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
