Hi,

I have a pair of xt disc hubs and want to lace them to a 700 c rim for use on my mtb for commuting/general hacking about off road.

Can anyone recommend a decent rim to match the hubs to - they're 32 hole.

B

    thanks andy

i have mountain bike rims but was thinking of having the hubs laced into a 700 c or 29er rim, i'm not changing anything else on the bike so i don't know if the handling would be affected.

well to be honest not sure the difference will be worth it. i noticed a massive increase in speed and control on the road with switching tyres, although i did redo whole bike so maybe that was a factor lol

You might find clearances are a problem. 700c/29er bikes are designed to have space for a wheel size (700/29), some MTB frames will only take 26" wheels. Because of the difference in wheel size it will affect handling, etc, so be warned. Try before you buy and try slick tyres first.
However, I like strange beasts, so I did it with a very old 80's Ti MTB frame and it was a lot of fun! I went the full drop bar and fixed route too (cos the brake mounts where in the wrong places with the different wheels).

FCN 3 or 4 on road depending on clothing
FCN 8 off road because I'm too old to go racing around.

    hi

thanks for the advice, i'll make sure there is enough clearance, but i'll take your advice andtry slicks on the 26" wheels first
