1k - Ribble or Planet X?

Hi

My new bike purchase through cycle scheme has been narrowed down to two carbon bikes at around one thousand pounds:

OR

Wiggle (Focus) don't do cycle-scheme unfortunately otherwise I'd consider the focus Cayo

I Went into the Ribble shop and got measured up the other day as I live in Preston. Bike looks good and has good brakes & wheels as standard. The guys in the shop were great - good service provided. The Planet X's look quite cool and have Dura Ace bits here and there, however the standard brakes aren't great (IMO) & I know nothing of the wheels (their own brand). Also Planet X would be an internet purchase but their customer service is said to be good. Planet X frames have a two year guarantee whereas Ribble have one. Both bikes have had really good reviews & a loyal following.

I don't race but train alot (for Mountain Biking). I want repectable performance & comfort and can't go above, say, £1100.

I'm edging towards the Ribble.

So... which one do I choose and why?

Go for the ribble

you live locally so can fine tune any difficulties easily
i've recently bought a scuro from them and am very happy with both service and bike.
i lived in preston fro many years, when ribble had a p. poor customer service reputation, they really have turned this round. any problems with mine have been sorted quickly.

top tip
when you buy the bike, buy or ask them to give you a pot of carbon assembly compound. this stuff stops your seat post slipping down, head set working loose. i think savings may be made on building the bikes
