Hi-just wondering if anybody has had a problem with the seat clamp-seat post on a Spesh Roubaix S Works frame?
Ive had the post slipping several times now, although its been torqued and even overtightened-this is a brand new frame, and Spesh carbon seatpost and its a pain to see it scratched so soon.
No grease or anything else was applied by the way.
Cheers

I have a Roubaix Comp and S-Works carbon seatpost.

Carbon post in carbon frame - it'll slip (with lots of awful creaking noises)

Get some Tacx Carbon Assembly Paste : it's not oil-based grease so it won't affect the carbon, but it stops this slippage.

ProBikeKit sell a 'syringe' of it for £3-odd, which is cheaper than the 80g pots most places sell for a tenner and is far more than you'll need for a seatpost.

  • Thanks Andy-its a replacement for my old Merlin, no slipping in titanium I can tell you.

You might want to read this:

"...If you want to use the S-Works Pave' SL seatpost on your Roubaix. I talked to the warranty guy @ Specialized today and was told it won't work on the S-Works Roubaixs because of the lay-up of the carbon around the top of the seat tube being too stiff for the clamp to hold right. The SL post was originally made for the Tarmac SL which has a different seat tube top that allows for a better grip from the collar w/out needing excessive torque."
