Hiya,
A few friends and I are going to do the coast to coast this summer, stopping off in hostels etc. Generally having a good time. (hopefully)
We are going to do it over three days so what do we need to take?
Inner tubes, spare tyres etc?
Also is there a good camelbak you could recommend?
I have a LOBO but it won't be big enough to carry spare clothes etc
Should I get a "rack" to fit over the back wheel? Bearing in mind I have a full-sus
Any advice before the event would be great
Ta!

i seen in the mtb mags that there is a shuttle service that will shuttle your luggage between your overnight locations for you this would save you having to carry excess baggage you would only need your spares fluids and food,..
i dont know of any links of the top of my head, but i'm sure a search will find somethingwww.bearbackbiking.com

If its the Trans Pennine Route I thinks its called the Sherpa Van Service, I think its for walkers but they might do cycling. If it is the trans pennine they have a website with all the places to Stay."Don't ride faster than you guardian angel can fly"
MTB - Cube AMS CC (special edition)
Road - Surosa0 -
not sue if this link is good but it's one a quick google search throw up.

I did the road route recently over 2 days. Well I say the road route, I actually did all the off road round whinlatter too which was hard going on a £2000 carbon road bike....
3 days will be fine - although if you can find more time to actually spend the day doing the newly opened whinlatter trail centre that would be even better (seeing how you ride right through them)
for prep, take a couple of inner tubes, pump, repair kit and a multi tool etc (all the basics)
ensure you know your route (actually sustrans route 71 until greystoke when its route 7 - pretty well signposted in most places) and where all the bike shops are onroute incase you get a problem.
take enough stuff to enable you to be able to eat all day. plenty of gels are good as there is a substantial amount of climbing to do. Plenty of drinks too.
Plan in stops at pubs etc for decent lunch. We ate on day one in keswick at the pack horse inn but there were a few of us so people could stay with the bikes (01768 771 389). There is also a good bike shop in the main car park where you can buy stuff from should you need it (penny farthing hung on the wall outside)
Then on day two we stopped in Stanhope at a place called the pack horse inn (strangely) (01388 528 407) where the owners were magic and allowed us to put our bikes under cover in their garage.
Make sure you plana nd stick to your stops to ensure you have enough energy to enjoy it. The second day it wizzed down and I had nothing more than a lycra top so was freezing until I got hold of my waterproof jacket at which point it was fine.
hope thats of help (get yourself a sustrans map)
Enjoy!0
