Tyres for road and tow path
Hi all
I currently own a bog standard mountain bike and will be doing the London to Southend this month. Currently I've got knobbly tyres on my MTB but want to replace them with something more suitable for the road.
I ride mainly on roads and tow path tracks and would like some recommendations for semi tyres which are up to the job. Something slick or near slick in the middle with knobblies on the edge?
Cheap and cheerful is fine with me but I appreciate you get what you pay for.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Panaracer Paselas Tourguards, eitehr 1.25 or 1.75"; I`ve used the 1,25 for 1000s of miles on road and included use on forest tracks and Caledonian canal towpath0

How would these hold up on dirt paths and dirt tracks?0

I used Schwalbe Marathon 26x1.5 on my mtb for touring on the Celtic Trail last year, mix of tarmac and some loose and occasionally rough paths, they performed very well, and are a great compromise in my view. No punctures either. They are available from Cycles UK for £11.99 at the moment.0

another vote for Schwalbe Marathon 26x1.5s

I was happily surprised at how tough the 1.25 Paselas were--- LEJOG last year involved a section of forestry track -- quite rough along the Great Glen cycle way followed by the Caledonian canal towpath, no probs at all over about 10 miles of quite rough tracks0
