Giant TCR Alliance frame...what's the theory?
I've just ridden a new Giant TCR Alliance Zero and oh my lordy me what a machine. My usual road ride is a restored 1980s retro Claud Butler (although most of the time I ride a full suss Trek MTB) and I was expecting the Giant to be really harsh and focused, but it's just a beautiful, effortless ride and I love it.
I was expecting only the seatstays and fork to actually be carbon but it looks like quite a significant part of the frame is carbon...top tube, seat tube, and chainstays as well as forks. To me it seems that getting the seamless invisible join mid tube is very hard to do, and I am just wondering what the theory is by essentially having the top of the bike carbon and the bottom ally.
Does anyone know? I guess that there is a bit of a cost saving but it can't be huge...
