Tour De France - Fantasy team..

Can anyone help me pick a fantasy Tour De France Team ? I need to beat my Bianchi riding big head work mate.

All I need to know (cos I know nothing) which of the listed riders here (http://www.velogames.com/tdf08riders.php) are any good.

I have 100 credits to spend in building a team of 9 riders. Each team must contain 2 All-Rounders, 2 Climbers, 1 Sprinter, 3 Domestiques and 1 Wild Card.

There's loads of good riders to be honest, I couldn't even start. How does your fantasy team work. Do you get more points for stage victories and where they finished on the GC etc?

This would be my team anyway.

Denis MENCHOV RUS Rabobank 18
Kim KIRCHEN LUX Team Columbia 14

Mauricio SOLER COL Barloworld 16
Sylvain CHAVANEL FRA Cofidis 10

Mark CAVENDISH GBR Team Columbia 14

Fabian CANCELLARA SUI Team CSC 8
Philippe GILBERT BEL Francaise des Jeux 6
Fabian WEGMANN GER Gerolsteiner 6
Jens VOIGT GER Team CSC 8

After a brief look, I'd go for

All Rounders
20 Valverde
14 Kirchen - they can both do a little bit of everything

Climbers
16 Cunego - he'll climb OK, but suck in the TTs
14 Ricco - he's bound to do something

Sprinter
16 Freire - a sprinter for all terrains, likely to finish

Doms
6 Steegmans - an extra sprinter at a knock down price
4 De La Fuente - he always goes for early KOM points
2 Knees - good for a couple of breakaways, may do OK on GC

Wildcard
8 Zubeldia - he'll get in the top 10 on GC and no-one will know how.

Actually Cunego has vastly improved his TTs these days, not up to Evans etc but good enough not to lose 5/6 minutes each time like he used to.

I think everyone's forgetting McEwen. Yes, the team's not going to help him but he's the only guy in all of pro-cycling who can win without a lead-out. Think of all the times he won a stage and his own teammates were no where to be found and he came out of nowhere in the middle of the bunch. With Boonen out of the TDF, and this being an even numbered year (he's won all his green jerseys in even years), McEwen's gonna be huge.

I know, he's improved, but I still reckon it will cost him a podium place. I reckon, he'll lose at least 4 minutes to Evans over the two TTs

Hello everyone,

I am the 'Bianchi big Head' 'Toby the mountain biking monkey' posted about.

The TDF hasn't even begun yet and here we are with a 'fantasy' entrent cheating. Posting for help is tantamount to virtual EPO use. As such any entry Toby makes into the Fantasy TDF has to be discounted.

Toby, maybe you could start a league with Mr Landis, Mr Vinokourov et al....

Asking someone to pick your team for you is not the same as looking at form, placings, recent races etc.

Do you think the director of sport at Barloworld asks the director of sport at Rabobank to pick his team for him?

for the record (not that anyone is paying attention) I am picking my team using the info gleaned here, and *elsewhere*. I am not simply picking a team using one of the two teams suggested here.

until i taught you otherwise you were still pushing your peddles on the arches of your feet. you live and learn, i am learning. i am also going to beat you.

erm. sorry. but can i take a quick straw poll on whether asking for opinion on picking a team for the TDF fantasy league (which is what I did when starting this post) is cheating ?

my bianchi riding big head mate is refusing to acknowledge my team as he maintains that i have cheated in asking for ideas and assistance on here.

have i cheated ? please post a simple yes or no.

He's running scared. So go on, I bet you could get a team together without paying too much attention to suggestions (most of which do not fall within the rules or point system anyway) made.

The eurosport competition is very strane BTW - riders listed who are not riding and no listings for riders who are! :roll: :roll: I bet their fantasy beach volleyball is 100% accurate!
