Wheel Upgrade
I'm looking around for a wheel upgrade for my 928 carbon and having recently seen a set of mavic R-sys on a shop display bike, I wondered if any one had any experience of them?
Not withstanding the technical details and cost, they look very flash, but fragile and not very aerodynamic.
Any other recomendations in this sort of price range?

I think you'll fine varying opinions of the R-Sys wheels, some people love them and others hate them.
Lots of other wheels in the same price range to choose from.0 -

i doubt they are that fragile but it's true to say they are not the most aero wheels on the market.
but if you have the budget then GET THEM - they look amazing and thats all that is needed - they will look great on your 9280 -
They're not that fragile (bar the first few that had problems with the front hubs) though they do fail spectacularly in a bad crash.
The main thing is they're not very aerodynamic because of the chunky spokes and they're not good value for money unless you can find a set under £600. Bear in mind also there's a 'Premium' version coming soon in black which may be of interest (and/or may reduce the price of the current silver and gold ones).
You might also consider Dura Ace 7850 CL 24 (the carbon/alloy rimmed version), Fulcrum Racing Zeroes or Racing 1s, Campagnolo Shamal Ultras, Neutron Ultras (which both come in Shimano freehub) or a nice handbuilt set for better performance at a similar weight and lower cost.
Adrien spent 7,000km on the R-SYS and is reasonably happy with them:

You are kidding right? Surely no-one buys wheels simply on the basis that they look good. It is an important consideration after the performance aspect, but it not all that is needed.0 -

well - yes - to some extent
it's not like they are going to be a particularly bad wheel is it - they come from mavic who should know a thing or two about wheels - they make enough of them. it's their range topping low-profile clincher so it should perform ok and of course - it looks great!0
