Fort William to Dunoon

OK, I think 'expedition' might be stretching it a bit, but, next week I am planning to do the west highland way with a friend from fort william as far as the top of loch lomond, then cutting across to Dunoon on the Clyde coast.....my question is really, how do i do this while avoiding the suicidal stretch of road at the top of loch lomond on its western shore.......the plan is to get to Arrochar alive. Anyway, rumour has it that theres a path cutting across somewhere near Tyndrum....not sure where exactly....has anyone else done this route, or anything similar?.....Thanks

Looking at the OS 1:50000 on Multimap for hints

there are a number of tracks into the hills from around tyndrum possibly one round Ben Lui
I can spot a number of potential routes through there but it would be luck if there is trodden paths.
The Electricity Transmission lines that go over the hill map may have unmarked landrover access as it's the only way in with kit if the lines fail for any reason.
The railway may also have a support path, though it;s more likely that landys with flange wheels are used so any support route may have disappeared a long time agoDo Nellyphants count?
