Oh, I dunno - yes I was riding legally (and overtaking the stationary traffic as well, not even undertaking), but it is a fairly obvious place for pedestrians and/or other road users to get confused, or have blind spots, and I did see this woman and the other peds at the traffic lights, so maybe I should have slowed down (although slowing down is also confusing as it makes the peds wonder whether that means they should cross, or not, etc.).

And for the sake of argument, there's no way she'd have been trying to cross if the cars had been speeding through, and also there was no way I'd have got hit from behind by a car since they weren't moving :) Anyway, enough devil's advocate. A few scrapes and bruises and a pretty much intact bike, it could have been a lot worse.

how could you miss SMIDSY pull out from your list?

That's the one that gives me cold sweats

i had 'driver not looking properly' but it was one of the ones i dropped, it seemed to me that if a driver wasn't looking properly it'd quite likely be due t fiddling with satnav, talking on the phone or somesuch equivalent. But yes i do take your point.

Hope all's well with the bike and yourself Biondino
