Thule 591 Issue

Hi
Just a word of advice... I use the thule 591 system for bike transportation and have noticed some concerns as follows: I noticed the paint of your bike rubs off due to the main clamp rubbing on the downtube. Which can be corrected with a foam insert of some sort or an old innertube. Second which is something i have just noticed is the two straps which hold the wheels in place have worn quite a worrying groove in my rims. For this i have no answer apart from keeping them slack which defeats the object.
Has anyone else noticed this problem?

No probs with my 591's, carried various bikes with them.
A little paint rubbing off is to be expected though, it's a bike, it will get scratched & muddy, I had a 4" long strip of paint removed from the swingarm of my Orange 5 the 1st time it was put on a rear carrier only a week after I got the bike...
