Does anyone out there know if shimano factory built wheels can have the rims replaced. I have a set of Dura Ace 7801's 06-07 with the nipples on the hubs. I was descending the Col de Glandon today and hit a small rock at speed trashing the front rim. Luckily managed to stay on and no other damage to speek of. Any help or advice gratefully recieved.

Bad news naylor343, were you on a recce/training for the la Marmotte next week by any chance? I've researched the newer 7850 carbon wheels and the news is bad regarding spares prices, see below:-

The spare rim alone will cost nearly as much as a new WH7850 TU-25 Carbon Tubular Front Wheel. Parkers list the WH7850 carbon front wheel at £385 these have the nipples at the rim as well. You could always bang the hub and spokes on ebay someone may give you a few quid considering the very high cost of the spares! £3.50 per spoke Hubs around £100

See below for spare rim price from Petracycles.co.uk website:-

    Product name:
Shimano Spares - WH 7801-C tubular carbon rim 16 hole - front
    Model No [IWHRIMVFGCT]
    Part No [WHRIMVFGCT

RRP £411.24 Petracycles Web Price £349.99
