No doubt i will need a backpack to carry tubes and such like.
Can anybody recomend a backpack?, ive only been looking on the internet so far, but the deuter race 10 ltr or 12 ltr seem popular.

it depends on how much you want to spend and whether you want it with hydration/hydration compatable0

if you are looking for a quality bit of kit for the longer rides then the best pack that ihave ever used is the wingnut hyper 3.0

I've got a Camelbak Slipstream, it holds 1.5 litres of fluid and has enough room for all the bits you need for a few hours in the saddle without being too big.
If I needed more fluid I'd buy a bottle of water and top up.
Some freindly pubs will top up for free too
One and a half litres is adquate for me, without being too heavyRichard

Recently got a Camelbak Mule and it's brilliant - just the right size (big enough to hold all you need but not so big that it gets in the way), very comfy and can carry 3 litres (if you don't want to carry much else!).
Cheap at CRC and Wiggle.0 -
I've just bought a MULE too.. Why don't they do the red!!!
Got it from tredz.co.uk, slightly cheaper than crc and wiggle, but only by a coupe of quid.0 -
I have one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Camel-Back-Mule-Style-Hydration-Pack-High-Sierra_W0QQitemZ170231626833QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170231626833&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1308 2 litre bladder and about 9 litres of storage enough to take food, waterproof and other bits and pieces for an all day ride and quite a bit cheaper than a camelbak.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0

Another vote for the Camelbak MULE here. Also use the slightly smaller Camelbak Lobo for shorter rides.
For me it makes more sense to use the backpack for hydration as well as storage, rather then using bottles on the bike.0 -
I have a Mule too, a red one 8)http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg

Camelbak havoc. I have one (old style) and it does everything I want it to.

Bladder is not of the same quality as a Camelbak but will do for a year then change it for a Camelbak Omega bladder. The bag will last you for years.0 -
i've got the high sierra one, from costco, cost 11 quid, its well worth the money, can't recommend it high enough to be fair. one snag with last years is i kept biting through the mouthpiece, but sorted this with a camelback mouthpiece. i bought this years version, which i use with all of my road bike stuff for commute purposes, and the bite valve has been much better. get one dude..._____________________________________________
