Polar CS400 Help!

I have jsut bought one of these, and will be taking it on it's forst outing tomorrow. I have set all the basic functions but the altitude confuses me. Has anyone got one of these and set it, I have no idea what the altitude is where I live but i understand it to say, "set the altitude from your starting point" Any ideas?

Google earth might show your altitude in metres above sea level. Try that.

Dont have a CS400 but own CS600,In the menu before you start exercise go to settings, altitude there should be option to auto calibrate altitude (make sure box is checked) so that your starting point is recorded and then computer calculates from that, so you do not need to manually input altitude. hope this helps.
