Well I took the plunge and brought some.

Given the price I ordered L & XL to make sure I got the right size and plan to return the one that I don't want ...

But I have tried them both on and I'm not sure which to keep.

I am a 77kg, 5'11 with 34" waist.

According to the size chart I am an L

http://www.assos.com/en/sizechart/default_inches.aspx

Are these likley so shrink a bit in the wash and get smaller or will the lycra give way a bit and become more baggy?

No, not at all, i'm very similar dimensions to yourself and have L in the F1 Uno's and they fit perfectly and have done after continuous washing. Return the XL's..!

Well the way i was always taught for Assos sizing is you want them to be snug, and a little too small when standing up straight. So that when you are bent over the bike, they fit fine.

I don't have a big arse and I fit into size L so Assos is always on the small side. Hope this helps.
  • Large, should definatley be on the snug side. and no they wont shrink or go baggy, they're very well made

Large sounds about right for you, I'm a bit shorter than you and take medium Assos shorts.
    I like bikes...

Enjoy "23% less genital compression". I measured it at a 27.6% reduction on the S2, bucking the usual trend of manufacturers bending the truth in marketing literature.

This one is in the lead so far for "Most Ludicrous Marketed Product Benefit 2008"

On a more serious note, compression of muscles is normally a good thing though so L might be best if both are comfortable. My stats are almost identical to yours but my thighs are too big for the L.

    Why is that?

    ... allegedly.

Not seen peer reviewed research (though I haven't looked)
