Got around £30 for a new pair of bibshorts, looking at DHB Earnleys from Wiggle and Giordana Silverline from Ribble.
Any opinions on these, or any other suggestions. Have checked out J.E.James Nike sale, not much available in my size and it appears i would be lucky to get them for Xmas anyway.

Giordana products are supposed to be very good. We are considering them for our next team order, and a number of other local teams use them.

Hi Shaun, I ordered one of the Nike bib shorts the week before last, and they were delivered this Monday.

These are still in stock in most sizes: http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id37930.html

Thanks guys, not been on for a while. Just placed an order for some dhb earnley shorts and bibs.
The price that wiggle are currently charging seems to good to miss when on a tight budget. (20% off and a further 10% off orders over £50).
Will let you know how i get on.

Hi, I've had some Nike race shorts (thru Evans). They go for £50 (discounted at the time), and haven't lasted long at all, with the pad wearing through on the sit bones. Very unimpressed. I rotate them with other shorts (Sugoi, which show no wear at all), and the 2 pairs I have have the same problem.
I'd not recommend them in any way.
    Good luck with the DHB's.

I recommend the Giordana.. I have a pair of the body clone bib shorts and they are awesome. I got mine from ribble

Probably a bit of useless info here but I found a video of the Giordana Factory in Italy. It shows some nice detailed info on the manufacturing process if anyone is interested. http://tinyurl.com/giordana

There is also a Bib Short Group Test here where the Giordana Chamois gets an amazing review http://www.roadcyclinguk.com/news/article/mps/uan/1676

    I wasn't too impressed with the dhb's

Ok for a first bib short, but I think the Giordana's are better

They don't need to be tight round your waist and so make breathing easier. They are certainly very comfortable but the disadvantage is that women need to strip off to go to the loo as do men at certain times :)

I have a pair as well as some bib winter tights (which are cosy in cold weather) but I also wear normal shorts with clip-on braces which work nearly as well and don't have the disadvantages.

I see a few of you are showing a preference for Giordana bibs, would have been my choice as well.
Did look at the various pairs on offer. "Solid Line" seemed very basic and the dhb earnleys looked better value. "Siverlines" were looking favourite, but Ribble were the cheapest (so long as you spent over £50). "Tenax" were just out of my price range.
The need for some overshoes and a few other bits of kit led me on down to Wiggle as they had everthing i needed.
The mileage is not that high at the moment ( 8 mile each way commute and occasional 30 milers at the weekend ) hence the gamble on the dhb's.
Having only been riding again for a few months (after nearly a decade of the bike), the weight is falling off and i didn't want to spent to much on kit (i.e. don't fit in the near future).
Guess I'll be after some bib tights before long, looks like summer has "done one"!!

My vote for the Giordana - as long as you get the right size, as they come up small. I prefer the basic team shorts to Assos.

OK i gave them a try but just didn't get on with the dhb's. Fit was not too clever, and didn't feel very comfortable. Have heard that they need a few washes but not going to risk that. Did get a few other dhb items (overshoes, L/S jerseys), and these were sound buys.
Looks like it will be Giordana afterall !!!!

    +1 for the Giordana Silverline

I've just spent an hour in these and I can honestly say they are my most comfortable shorts.

i'll definately be buying some more
