Hi, I’m new to road cycling, been very interested for some time now and finally have enough cash to get one!
I’m looking to spend around £500 - £550, so far I’ve looked at the Giant SCR2 £545 and Trek 1.5 maybe £599
However i have a friend who works for a bike company MASSI and has numerous trade accounts, he says he can build me a complete bike with the following spec:
Full Shimano Tiagra Groupset
Full carbon fork (unbranded)
Shimano WH-RS10 wheels
Either a MASSI frame with similar geometry to the SCR2, or a slightly more expensive ProLite frame
And all the other bits and bobs to make it complete!
All this for £525inc VAT
Which bike do you guys recommend i go for, or is there another bike out there that may be more suitable? Which frame would be better, and! Are there any frames ideal for a beginner (6’ 0.5” MALE) for about £140/£150 (I’m not 100% sold on the MASSI looks wise) (I know it shouldn’t be too much of a factor!)

Cube Aerial £5490

the massi sounds great - a good spec for that price - including decent wheels which are rare at the price point. the SCR and the cube have tat wheels which you'd want to replace.0

Go for the custom build and if your budget goes to £550, ask if there's anything from that list he can upgrade for £25! Seriously, it'll be much cooler having the custom rather than the ultra-common Trek or Giant and you'll be much prouder of it.0
