repacing rear mech/deraillur

apologies for spelling!

changing shimano fitting...easy enough?any tips?

    easy to physicaly replace - brake chain, undo cable bolt, undo the mech - fit new mech, thread chain through and re-fasten chain.

    it's the indexing that is the most difficult part - and even it's not bad.

    go to the series (tiagra etc) and the rear mech - the tech document will have a fairly useful setup guide.

    You can even get away with not having to break the chain if you're happy to partially dismantle the derailleur cage.

    Easier though to do it properly.

    quite a satisfying job imo - it is a lot easier to do than you are thinking right now but feels great when complete as it is perceived as a 'tough' job.

    when re attatching cable do i need to make sure i have taken up plenty of slack?

    Yep, chain on smallest sprocket and pull as much cable through as you can when tightening the cable bolt.
