Probably no help can be offered here but . . .

I'm getting a bike from evans on C2W, currently planning on getting the GT avalanche expert, but I really like the look of the spec on the cube ltd team. The problem is, evans don't deal with the uk supplier.

However, i've seen posts on here before that have said that halfords wont order cube bikes in either, and also a recent post to say someone has just ordered one through halfords? Anyone with any ideas as to how I could achieve this through evans?
I've phoned the uk office who deal with orders and all he could tell me is evans don't currently deal with the cube supplier, that's about all he knew.

Any clues? probably clutching at straws, but don't want to miss out on it if there is a chance of giving it a try, seems to be a great bike.

Hi - as per your post on fork travel. The Cube LTD Team is an excellent bike in my opinion. When I purchased mine in June the LBS said they would struggle to replace the stock (was the last one they had). CRC has the bike in stock but I wouldn't think Evans could get it from them. Cube website http://www.cube-bikes.de/xist4c/web/english_id_6507_.htm has a list of UK dealers.

Cheers. It does look a great bike. No way I coud afford or justify it without C2W, so will probably just go for the GT, its only because evans are really dragging their feet about the C2W that i'm still looking.

Shame - C2W seems to cause more heartache than joy from reading these forums. My company is resisting setting up C2W due to "lack of resource" - lazy buggers. Enjoy the GT :D

Not really causing heartache, more benefits than negative points. They are taking ages, and without it I would have a replacement bike after my last one was stolen 4 weeks ago, but I would have only been able to afford a gt avalanche 3 with the insurance money, whereas now i'm going for something miles better.

I don't understand companies that don't set it up, they save 12.8 % on anything you buy as they then don't pay N.I. on it.

The company will own the bike after the scheme has finished unless you agree to buy it from them. Have you sorted a price out, I read somewhere that 5% of the value of the bike was fair, as long as your company agree to that at the end of the term. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't though

The way Halfords do it is they just buy the bike from another shop at some agreed discount. AIR, they get Specialized from Leisure Lakes.

This causes warranty issues for the end user of the bike, which is of no real concern to Halfords. I'd like to think that Evans are more than a little above that, but I'd not be surprised if they're not.

Out of interest, why are you limited to Evans?

As far as I was aware evans and halfords are the only companies doing it? or at least companies where I could try bikes out, didn't want to go through halfords as my closest one seems rubbish. The guys in evans in brighton seem great so asked my company to sign up with them.

Not actually looked into what happens at the end of the year "loan". The company is a very small one amongst friends though, so there is nothing to discuss there really. I'll mention it, but pressumably as far as they are concerned the bike is mine.

Anyone know what happens about insurance on a bike that is brought through C2W? who has to cover it? my house insurance as I have been doing?

Any bike shop can do it.

The way the system works means that there is, in general, some agent between the employer and the shop that deals with the paper work. Evans and Halfords have each brought it in house, but you can use anyone to do it. Where I used to work, we used CycleScheme to do the paperwork, but there are others (Booost, for example).
You can find the shops that do CycleScheme at http://cyclescheme.co.uk/employee,partner_finder.htm

You can go through the shop and get a voucher you can only spend there, or go stright through Cyclescheme or some such and get one you can spend at any shop that's a member of the particular middleman you've gone with.

    Cheers for that.

Some good reading answered a few questions.

I still can't really find any info on the 5% + tax at the end of the scheme? is it don't to the employer to decide this price or the government? is it seen as a perk otherwise?

    It's down to the employer.

Cheers for all the info guys.

Would be tempted to have a look at the cube through another store, but i've been waiting ages to get a new bike and buy the time that was sorted it'd be another month in reality. I've got a deposit already paid on the GT, I can only get that back if I buy a bike at evans I think.

Just heard that the scheme is all set up now so can order my vouchers :D
