Hi,
Quick question is it best to fix a small pump onto the frame of the bike onto the water bottle holder fixings or carry the pump in your backpack?
Cheers

personal choice.

Backpack. Less chance of it snagging, falling off or getting broken, also means you don't need to clean it after a ride.0

backpack. The first time i put it on my frame i had a little off and it snapped the fixings straight off. For MTB - backpack everytime.0

Backpack - doesn't collect all the mud (and then cease to work).0

or you could go for the tubeless option and not carry a pump0

I'd still want to carry atleast one tube and a pump just incase. Sealent cant fix a gashed side wall but a tube can get you home (or at least means you can push the bike home instead of carry it )0

See this thread for what I've done to my Camelbak for pump carrying:

in the bag. but i have a big bag.0

I've stuck my mine to the frame, clipped in and secured with a velcro strap. I only put it on cos I commute on the bike and it meant less chance of forgetting it.0

If you ride anywhere muddy, put it in your back pack, in my experience frame mounted pumps die after a year or so of off road riding...0

Think I'll keep it in the rucksack.
cheers for the advice0 -
generally leave mine on the frame for same reasons as 3wheeler i commute and would forget it otherwise, but when i'm on a day out, it generally ends up getting stuffed in to the camelbak, after i snag it or it rattles loose!
Pain in th #%$* really but an absolute essential on the trail, you can virtually guarantee you'll never need it til the first time you forget to pack it.There's no such thing as a stupid question, unless you already know the answer!0 -
