Hi everyone Im in the prosses of converting my racer bike over to shifters Ive just recived my simano 105 from ebay but I was advised to go from a 7 speed to a 9 speed what is the best ratios to go for 11-23 12-27? I dont race just use the bike to go out with friends so what is your advice can you help?? Thanks Bob

    If you don't race then fit the biggest rear sprocket you can (I'd guess a 27)
    and you won't need an 11.

    What's better? 11-23 for me probably, don't know about you though.

    Do you have a triple or standard/compact double?

    Are you in hilly terrain?

    Are you a good climber? Is your fitness good?

    Can't really answer your question without knowing the answers to those questions.

    Thanks I have a double in the front I would like to think that Im quite fit for my age, There are some hills living down in south Wales Swansea way, Just come back from holiday in Loire valley I did 74km one daybut it was mostly flat!! bob
