Brake lever swap

Maybe I didn’t look far enough, but couldn’t see a ‘workshop’ type area to the forum?
Commuting is possibly the most applicable to the type of bike I'm looking at?
Anyway….
I’m doing up an old bike. You know the type, stored in a leaky shed for the last decade. Sheds now about to collapse, “Do you want it, before I put it in the skip?”

Its not a case of a project to do it up as original, its going to be a hack bike. Something to eat up some of the spares I’ve amassed over the last couple of years.

Now the original fittings include those lovely ‘centre-pull’ (?) brakes. The brake fittings themselves are OK. But the levers are worse for wear, looking decidedly ratty. Now I have within my supplies a set of levers for ‘V’ brakes……

So I guess what I need to know is (before I start chopping and changing) a comparison of how much cable each of them pulls?

Or to put it another way.

Are V brake levers compatible (enough) with ‘centrepull’ brakes?

    Sorry they are not compatible.

but you can fit V's to the bosses as they are in the same place.
