Slipstream announce team for Tour
No Tom Danielson. Only right considering his dire form.
Is there any decent races left for him to take part in this year?

He can't make the cut in a squad that lacks anything resembling a GC contender.
Shows how far down he's plummeted and makes you wonder what got him up there in the first place."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Isn't he having some kind of early life crisis at the moment, problems at home and stuff.0

How long do you think it will be until we drop the "Slipstream" moniker in favour of just "Team Garmin" :?:Rich0

Just looking at that Tom Danielson site.....who on earth would buy his coffee?0

They'll need Garmin gear to locate the peleton, which will be five minutes up the road
Good luck to them. Remember, they are a new team with modest ambitions and a clean approach to things. Even if Danielson was on top form, it wouldn't make much difference.0 -
Just reading about the Garmin sponsorship on velonews:

And came across a classic piece of Vaughters diplomacy: “Before we make the decision on whether to buy into the ProTour, I want to better understand the relationship between the UCI and ASO".....Le Blaireau (1)0 -
How big is Slipstream's squad ?
Unlike some bigger teams who've got 30 or 40 riders, so can run a different squad for each of the Grand Tours, a different GT team to their Classics team, etc it looks like Slipstream have been fielding the same guys race in, race out.
So I'm not that surprised at some of their results - they can't be peaking for a race every couple of weeks.
- lets see if they've been peaking for the Tour !0 -
Do keep in mind Slipstream/Garmin have a big continental program over here in North America too. They are like two teams in one, with many of the younger guys not racing in Europe,or going over for a race or two. Only the core of riders recruited last year and the best North Americans are in Girona full-time during the season. They've had a rather good year so far, nailing their one big early season goal at the Giro's first stage. They've been preparing for the Tour in a novel way, away from the lead-up races, so it should be interesting. I don't expect them to light the race on fire and some of the boys will suffer like never before, but they'll justify their presence.
Good thing they left Danielson home. The team won't work at protecting a non-existent GC chance and will have the freedom to try their hand more often. Definitely going to be one of the attacking teams of the Tour.0
