loose saddle & mount on seat post

Afternoon all,
I have this problem with my saddle and seat post - the saddle and its mount on top of the seat post have become loose in the seat post, so unless i cycle pretty smoothly, the saddle and mount rotate slightly on top of the post. theres no mechanical fixing to connect the post and mount so i cant see anyway to tighten it.
Is it broken and needs replacement, or is there a way to fix it?
