Fixing the lockout on a lefty fork?

The lefty on my Cannondale seems to have a faulty lock out.. you can turn the black lever round and round rather than the quarter turn that it supposed to, and of course, it doesnt lock the fork out. Is it easy to fix at all, or moreover, is it inadvisable to be riding it until it is fixed?
