Gear Shifter Problem
Ok this is driving me mad, i have the type of shifters where you need to push the brake lever across in order to shift, the problem is it takes a massive amount of movment to get the chain to shift up, if i increase the cable tension it makes shifting back down almost impossible as the tiny little trigger for shfting down ends up really stiff to push, any ideas please.

I have the same problem! In order to move gears on the chainring, I have to click twice, but this is after having had it loosened, as I couldn't even shift it before. Wonder if it just needs wearing in a bit?"And the Lord said unto Cain, 'where is Abel thy brother?' And he said, 'I know not: I dropped him on the climb up to the motorway bridge'."

sounds like the stops are are not set right and then the cable needs resetting."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I've had the stops here there and every where but no joy, i'm wondering if it could be a faulty shfter, reason being, when i first got the bike the front mech shifter had two clicks (indexing) which i would have thought should have been on a triple ring,i have a double, with the problems i've be haveing i removed the inner cable incase it may have been damaged, now i have reinstalled the inner cable the shifter now has no clicks and operates like a friction shifter, it's a STI 2200 BTW,0

Anyone know if the STI 2200 shfter for a double ring front mech is indext or friction,0
