Loosing gear from your jersey pockets
B**ger just lost a new pair of Nike shades from the back of my jersey whilst out near Whaley Bridge tonight-
I took them off whilst on a climb and when I looked for them again about 8 miles later - Nothing !!
I've been back and nothing on the road side B**ger, B**ger, B**ger
By the way anyone else had similar misfortunes ?

I lost a contact lense on the cat and fiddle.
not strictly out of my jersey pocket granted.0 -
In the last year a pair of Rudy Projects (very old ones so not too much of a loss) and a gilet.

Tools, tubs, inner tubes, maps, a whole host of bits and pieces that come flying out when you take out your snot rag or even just get in and out of the saddle repeatedly.Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.0

I was bombing down a hill early on in the recent Pain in the Pennines event and spotted something in the road as I shot past. I thought twice about stopping but decided to do 'the decent thing' and went back up the hill to check it out. It turned out to be an expensive-looking lightweight jacket in a stuffsac. I velcroed it to my handlebars and set off down the hill again but hit a bump and it ended up back on the road! I stopped again, re-retrieved it, put it in my bag that time, and handed the jacket in later at the first feed station. I checked at the finish and apparently someone had reclaimed it. They'd paid £90 for it a couple of days before and had been somewhat peeved to have lost it.
Previously, I'd found a £10 note, bananas, glasses, mitts, and even a broken MP3 player in the road. Yes - make sure that your kit is securely stashed!
PS I've had a front light bounce off on a bumpy descent and shatter in the road. I had a rear light fall off on a different bumpy descent but managed to retrieve that one in working order.0 -
I lost a 20 quid note once. Only found out when I arrived cold and hungry at the cafe That was not a fun ride."A cyclist has nothing to lose but his chain"

You probably don't want to hear this then - I found a £20 note on the Struggle out of Ambleside not long ago. I almost ignored it because I wanted to do the climb in one go, but I saw sense and trousered it pronto.0 -
I once had a puncture repair kit fly out on a descent, I just left that.
Another time on the way home from work I had a Top Peak Pocket Rocket fall out of my courier bag. I stopped, grabbed it and stashed it in my jersey pocket. A mile later I was going along a road with speed bumps, and got caught behind a large road sweeper (the ones the size of a bin lorry). I overtook it, and as I hit the next speed bump the bump bounced out of my pocket. I didn't even both stopping as it would have been hoovered up by the sweeper long before I'd have been able to retrieve it.
Oh - to cushion the blow I replaced it with a slightly more bling Planet X carbon fibre CO2 inflater-cum-mini pump. So my advice is if you loose something out of your pocket, buy something a bit more bling and take better care of it.0 -
Ive lost a map before. Went back to look after 2 hours of riding and no sign. Slightly annoyed.
Thankfully I've never lost anything else. Dropped a fair few things, scratching a lot of sunglasses.0 -
I found a wallet whilst descending the Alpe D'huez this year which was the last descent of a long day in the saddle. It was the third climb of the day and was hot. I phoned the owner from bourg d'oisans. It transpired that he lived in the village 2/3 of the way up. He asked if I could cycle back up and give it to him  .
I left it in the ice cream shop for him to collect.Dan0
