CO2 Cartridges
Does anybody use these? I've always found mini-pumps can be a bit hit-and-miss and these look like a great and convenient alternative. Are they easy to use with a Presta Valve or is there a chance I'll screw it up (cos if there is a chance it's likely I will...). I have visions of a puff of air, still-flat tyre and a few quid down the drain...

I've always used Co2 for my MTB and I have a Second Wind pump on my Road bike that is Co2 cartridge friendly but apart from having it demonstrated in the shop I've never had to use it. Looked simple enough though.
I also don't pay shop prices for cartridges. Buy them in bulk on t'internet and save yourself a fortune!!!!!!1998 Marin Hawk Hill

Cheers! Will give it a try - I'm not prone to punctures (he says touching wood, crossing fingers etc) but nice to be covered!0

What sort of pressure will a Co2 cartridge 'pump' a 700c road tyre to?Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

depends what size cartridge you use, standard shop cartridges are normally 16grams and one of these will take a 700c road bike tyre to about 120-130psi from fully flat.1998 Marin Hawk Hill

Don't forget to carry 2 cartridges if all you have with you is C02. They work ok but are
not perfect. Some people carry both a small mini pump and C02 just to be sure. Stranded
and waiting for a ride is no fun.

I agree the mini road pumps can be next to useless and the CO2 is so quick and easyTarmac Chewer0

If your going down the co2 road then get one with a trigger so you can slightly inflate the tyre to check that it hasnt blown of the rim. Also there's nowt wrong with the local army and navy store for cartridges, where i get mine they are 10 for £5.A punctured bicycle
