I would be wanting to get the bb shell faced, to make sure the sides are perpendicular to the axle axis."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

As nick said, it's a good idea to get the BB shell faced. It's of much lower importance on the older BBs with the internal bearings, but the newer ones with the bearings on the outside rely on the BB shell surfaces for bearing alignment.
Aside from that, provided you get the correct thread (English vs Italian) there's not likely to be anything you need to change. What frame is it?0 -
Sorry about the ignorant question. What getting the BB shell faced mean in layman terms.
Thanks for the replys also.0 -

If replacing the BB and crankset on a relatively new bike (2 months, 2,000km) would facing be necessary? Or just buy and install new BB?0

well lets say this. i was helping put a Spesh carbon road frame together a few weeks ago.
Brand new carbon frame, Boss said it will be fine. thought we would just check it out. Chased and faced the bb. and it was one of the worst bb shells i have ever seen.
may have been a one off? maybe. if your crank set is external bearinged now then i would say it will be fine. if it has internal then i would have it faced."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks the frame is an old Lemond Titanium. But still straight and true, I will get it check before installing.
Thanks again.0
