Just picked this up for a fiver. What is it? Has 5x2 speed. Simplex gearing. Chrome stem & bars. 27" wheels. Panther written on frame. Assume something cheap & cheerful utility from the 70s. Not made my mind up whether to break or use as "don't care if it gets nicked commuter]. Would be in good condition with a bit of TLC. Why don,t the image instructions work on here? Anyway URL below.
Thanks for any info. Jim

It looks very similar to something I recently picked up cheaply too, Mine is a 'Steyr Clubman' in white, it has the 2x5 Simplex gears, those nasty suicide levers Dia Compe brakes, even the little mudguards. The forks have a very similar sweep as in your pics, probably typical of the era. I'm undecided what to do with it too, maybe a fixie?
If you want some pics to compare with, let me know & I'll take some.0 -
hi
Pics would be good. Been to LBS to true wheel. He does not recognise the make but says gears are very good quality.
