Hi,

Any tips on keeping the chamois nice and plump? Or do you just have to accept they go flat eventually? Im wondering this because even my 2 month old assos shorts are showing signs of becomming a pancake which is a bit saddening to be honest!

    Eeeeeeeuw!

    Definitely wash them unless you enjoy rotting your tackle. Wash on delicate 30 degrees in a mesh bag and rub in some Assos chamois cream after washing and drying.

    Could some one tell me what chamois cream does for modern synthetic chamois? I thought this stuff was for the original natural chamois to soften them.

    From the Assos site:

    In order to further increase riding comfort, we recommend the use of ASSOS Chamois Crème. The ASSOS Chamois Crème reduces friction and keeps your skin cooler. It prevents inflammation and has antibacterial properties. Apply directly on the skin (avoid intimate areas) before each ride. Furthermore, after every laundering, apply a thin layer onto the shorts' insert. This to maintain suppleness, elasticity and antibacterial properties. Used by many professionals regardless of the brand of their shorts. ASSOS Chamois Crème – simply a must. Don't leave home without it!

    I do wash them in the bag they came with. Didnt replace my assos chamois cream when i ran out cos its not cheap! Maybe i should get some more and apply it when shorts are washed and see how they do!

    "Don't wear them?" :lol::lol::lol:

    I put them through the wash and within five minutes of wearing them they're nice a soft again - maybe my @rse has a particular softening agent that I could bottle and sell as expensive chammy cream.

    PS totally my assumption that it's the wash that's causing the flattening - only just re-read your post. With mine it's when they come out of the wash that they're a bit thin and stiff, more a "poppadum" than a "naan" if you see what I mean. With real chammy they used to come out of the wash like sandpaper - chammy cream sorted that out but then felt like having a wet squishy custard pie in yer shorts - not nice to wear at all until it warmed up a bit.

    Can we talk about something nicer? :)
